This recipe is derived from a family staple served with all BBQ dinners and always on Christmas with a ham. The only trick for you may be finding the Savoie's Dressing mix if you're not on the Gulf Coast.
Ingredients List:
- 3 lbs lean ground beef (90/10)
- 2 cartons of Savoie’s Dressing mix (yellow carton)
- 2 big yellow onions, chopped
- 2 bell peppers, chopped
- 4 stalks of celery, chopped
- 2 heaping Tbsp of chopped garlic
- ½ c Worcestershire sauce
- 1 heaping Tbsp of Better Than Bouillon- chicken base
- 1 heaping Tbsp of Better Than Bouillon- beef base
- 4 c long grain rice, cooked
- 1 stick butter, split in ½
- TX-KJN Envie
Cooking Instructions:
In a large cast iron skillet, melt ½ stick of butter and sauté the vegetables until translucent. Add ground beef and cook until brown and most liquid is reduced (do not drain). Add Savoie’s Dressing mix and stir to combine. Once combined, add both Better Than Bouillon, and butter.
At this point, there is going to be a lot of liquid in your pot. Let it simmer uncovered on medium-low heat until the liquid is reduced.
While the liquid is reducing add the Worcestershire sauce and season to taste with Envie.
Then add the cooked rice and stir to combine. Start out using half the cooked rice and then add more depending on how much you want to combine. The ratio is a personal preference. Cover and let stand off the heat for 15-20 minutes.
